Remote Assistance Software Review
On this page, you will find several remote assistance software being reviewed. We will state the pros and cons of each, as well as other important info such as pricing. You decide which one you want to use :)
1) Team viewer.
This is our favorite software because it is easy to use, and there is a free version for non-commercial use! So if you need a remote assistance software just to connect to your own personal computers, you can download a copy for free and use it without having to pay a single cent.
You can connect to Team Viewer in two ways. You can either assign a private password, or connect to the computers ID that has already been assigned to it by the software. Of course, you will need to install Team Viewer on both systems in order for the connection to be successful.
2) VNC Remote Assistance Software.
This is another popular remote software that is available for free. Works on Windows computers and you can connect to another computer to access the desktop remotely. Many IT support staff like to use VNC. There is an in-built remote assistance in Windows systems but this needs an invitation. Support staff using VNC does not need an invitation to connect remotely to the system. This helps to save time because most users are not tech savvy enough to use the in-built version.
3) AnyPlace Control.
This is another piece of remote assistance software that is rising in popularity. It supports direct connections via IP or DNS. You can configure the remote machine to use an easy to remember nickname if you like. No installation is required on the remote machine. Supports remote file transfers as well. This is a very useful feature to have if you download or upload files frequently on the remote computer. There is a free version available but if you decide to make a purchase, licenses cost from $24.95 upwards as of writing.
Goto Assist is more for corporate users. There is no free version but there is a free trial. Free trial lasts for 30 days. There are two versions – Express and Corporate. Express version is for individuals, while corporate version is for teams. Goto Assist is great for IT support individuals and teams. With the express version, you can connect up to 8 remote computers at one go. The corporate version is a lot more powerful since it’s meant for teams. Collaboration and communication tools are found in this version, which is not available in the Express version.
5) ShowmyPC.
ShowMyPC is also meant for enterprise use. There is a free version but the free version is extremely limited. For example, you can only transfer files but not folders. There are several paid versions and the more features you need, the higher the fees. All fees are paid on a monthly basis. If you have your own dedicated server, you can purchase this remote assistance software for private servers. The cost will be one-time and starts from $220 and goes all the way up to $4220.
